“ This chilled mix is Jimmy Mix champion! ”
featuring A New Career In Town by David Bowie
You know that time just after the sunset, when the colours are all muted, and you maybe have a glass of something tasty in your hand and your friends are all about and you’re having a good time and suddenly you’re thinking about death? Welcome to Sunny Downers.
It’s a mixed bag. We’ve got some slinky blues, we’ve got an existential messy rock song about pasta, we’ve got some instrumental Bowie from his Berlin triptych, and if you make it to track 12 we’re closing out with a song from Karen Dalton, whose voice actually sounds like a sax smoking a cigarette. Also 1x upbeat song about the glories of platonic love.
This would be a good album for driving around. It would be a good album to have on in the background if you’ve got a few friends coming over. I regret to announce it is also a very good album for staring off into the middle distance with a cigarette. Being with your friends is nice, and when they’re not around you will miss them. Shit is temporary, but sunsets are pretty.
Honourable mentions for Devon and Teagan and Angelica. Also I asked before I included their songs on my mix, which is the correct and polite response, according to me but not to Tyson “Thief” Jopson.
Mix up an old fashioned but probably just coz I really like them – I don’t know your life. Get ready for "Sunny Downers."
