A rather mellow and introspective flying experience.

featuring Something In The Way She Moves by James Taylor

This mix is a collection of songs that have carried real weight for me over the past year. Some pieces hold deeply personal ties to my immediate family. There is a song here that represents each of them. These choices reflect how the last year I’ve lived has unfolded and how music has shared those experiences.

There is also a touch of South African music, which is central to who I am and how I hear the world. The influence of Crosby, Stills and Nash runs through this mix as well. Their work sits very close to my heart and continues to guide my own playing and singing. I have also included an artist I only discovered this year, along with a song from an album that I genuinely believe is one of the most remarkable releases of the year.

Some of the music here is part of what I perform. All of it has been chosen for musicality, honesty and the quality of the writing. Most of these tracks are deep cuts rather than obvious choices. They may not be widely known, but each has earned its place.

Enjoy!

  1. Love your mix and the thinking that motivated your choices . Your intention is clear in every track.
    Great curation.

Happily reacquainted with Gijim’beke… (takes me right back to watching Juluka perform live at Wits when Johnny Clegg was a young lecturer there. )
