Sadly our recording of the awards radio show failed. So it will be forever a cherished memory for those that caught it. Huge apology to those I said I would get it recorded. But also, shit happens, ya should a been there.
AWARDS
Here is a summary of the silly awards I made up for the show based off the stats and votes I spent the past while digging around in:
Tough Audience Award:
This award went to Jimmy mixer that dished out the lowest score to fellow mixers.
Winner: Devon who gave an average score of only 6.8 out of 10
Easiest to Please Award
Conversely, I gave a nod to the person that gave the best ratings.
Winner: It is a tie between Mari and Cat who dished out reviews averaging 8.9 out of 10
Biggest Jimmy Music Lover
This person said they gave the highest average of listens to each of the albums reviewed.
Winner: Angelica, who spent more time listening to her favourite albums than anyone else scoring an 8.9 out of 10
Diligent Little Voter Award:
For the person that was the most help filling out my tedious barrage of feedback forms. This person also had the highest influence on the top twenty track list.
Winner: Tyson who was the only person apart from LHA to vote on every album.
Tardiest Jimmy Mixer
This was for the person highest on my naughty list, for chasing submissions and not filling in forms.
Winner: Kati for handing in late and only voting on a few albums. For shame.
The “I have no idea what my mix is good for” Award
I had a look at the categories each person put their submission in and compared it against the categories in which others decided to place that submission.
Winner: Goes to Devon for thinking his music is good for sexy time.
Not one of the 12 people that voted on his album thought that was an applicable category. To be honest, I saw this one coming.
Poppiest Album (most average listens according to Spotify)
This category was more or less INVENTED because of the track ‘Dance Monkey’ which had over 1.6 billion listens on Spotify (One of the highest ever ON SPOTIFY I might add). I did double check through the albums to make sure nobody else pipped this average, but with three other songs on the same album with over 100 million listens a piece, the winner was clear.
Winner: Sakkie Kleingeld by Tyson.
Most Obscure Album (least average listens according to Spotify)
There were three stand outs here. Nick had the least plays as an average with the most popular song only just pipping 10 million, however both Richard’s Album ‘Se Poes Se Taal’ and Matt’s album ‘Keep Off the Groynes’ had way more obscure tracks, with many having less than a thousand plays. Unfortunately Se Poes Se Taal had Die Antwoord’s “Enter The Ninja” which ruined the albums low average.
Winner: Keep Off The Groynes by Matt
MAIN AWARDS
Best Album Cover
Winner: Bad Brains for a Good Time
with 35,7% of the vote. To float in the space between came a close second with 21% of the vote.
Best Submission:
Winner: Keep Off The Groynes
for a great title, great write up and album cover, on theme categories, great presentation score, perfect metadata and on time submission.
Best Track:
Thomas Vent – Berta Berta from Old Nicks Extra Strong Moonface
Jimmy Mix Album of the year
winner: Sunny Downers by Kati
Kati got four picks for favourite as well as the highest overall rated album.
Top runners up were Old Nicks Extra Strong Moonface, Keep Off the Groynes, To Float in the Space Between, Deeper Seasons than Our Memories and Pandemonium.
Special Thanks
To Devon for being a huge help all the way through from advice building voting forms, help on the blog and chasing up submissions by tagging the ever living f*** out of everyone on Facebook.
To Matt, Richard and Cat for helping me digitize submissions onto Spotify and iTunes
To the radio presenters, Rob and MFWB for helping create an incredible awards show. I thought it was an absolutely fantastic way to close out the season.
One Final thought…
This music extravaganza is about sharing music with one another, discovering music and bringing everyone as mates closer together through music. So a special thanks to everyone involved, even if your album didn’t receive as many noddy awards as the mixer to your left, it was thoroughly appreciated and enjoyed. I have added personal love and comments to each of the submissions from Jimmy Mixers that enjoyed your album. So head on over to your mixes to see what people had to say. Looking forward to the next one!
