An introspective and emotive mix for getting intoxicated by a fire

featuring Zeit by Rammstein

As I have such a varied taste in music, I often struggle to create a playlist with a cohesive flow or a consistent mood. I try sticking to a single genre, tempo, or rhythm… but that’s just not my personality. My daily life swings drastically in energy, so I’ve made peace with my albums doing the same.

Instead, I’ve decided to embrace a theme: TIME — inspired by Bob Dylan’s Theme Time Radio Hour. Thanks for the spark, Bob.

It’s striking how differently we each perceive time. The past couple of years have had an almost violent change in tempo for me. Moving to Budapest has felt like an acceleration. And here’s a fun physics twist: moving faster can make actual time slow down from the perspective of the person in motion (thank you, Einstein). Something I’ve been chewing on…

I want to honour my Papa Franz, who passed away on 23 August 2025. As I was driving to Austria for his funeral, I was listening to a local rock station, and this song came on. It felt like a divine, synchronous gift — achingly perfect for the numbness of that day. It broke my seal. For anyone who is mourning, or will one day find themselves there, maybe this song and its lyrics will speak to you too. (Apparently ChatGPT translates it better than Google.)

Much love to all the fellow Jimmy Mixers. Thank you for sharing your souls.

Now put the saliva on the paper, get a stiff bevie of your choice and get ready for "TIME by SSH."

  1. I’m finding your mix very cohesive actually… Also shout out to “Saudade”. Powerful song with a lot of weight behind those lyrics <3

  2. Loved your mix – very evocative.
Carried your intention right through to the end and took me along with it . Agree with Nick , very cohesive .
And that Rammstein pick – yes.
Tip of the hat to your Papa Franz ( and my own ). Thanks for that.
Adding Saudade to my own collection .

  3. For me, this is a quintessential SSH mix, with each song being its own exquisite journey. Wolf Alice is always a favourite for me, and after Saudade, Saudade took me to a whole new place with headphones on, I came to comment here right away. Clearly, it’s reached others the same way, looking at the comment thread 🙂
